MacZip is an AppleScript that simply acts as a wrapper around zip on the command line. The difference between MacZip and the normal Archive Utility that ships with OS X is MacZip omits any hidden files such as .DS_Store files. Although other Mac and Unix/Linux users won't see these hidden files, Windows users will and it makes sense to remove them before sending the archive to another computer.
How do I use it?
MacZip accepts input by dragging a folder (or single file) onto the icon. You will be prompted to ensure you have selected the correct folder and then a zip file with the same name as the folder will be created.
